The Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world. Some maintain that before it erupted, it would have been higher than Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Today, long since having collapsed and eroded, it is an extensive highland area with the famous 600 m deep Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth.
Endangered black rhino are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephants wander the forests, black-maned lions stalk the grasslands, and flamingoes crowd the soda lakes. An estimated 25 000 large mammals are resident in this bowl of plenty, including a population of approximately 6 000 resident wildebeest, 16 highly endangered black rhino and around 70 lions. Cheetah move in and out of the Crater, while leopard are most often encountered in the spectacular Lerai Forest.

Once little more than a ramshackle fishing village, Nungwi has been transformed into one of Unguja island’s busiest beach destinations and its second most populated village after its capital, Stone Town. Situated at the island’s northernmost tip, Nungwi is blessed with some of Zanzibar’s most idyllic swimming beaches as the water surrounding this section of the island is fairly deep and mostly unaffected by the change of tides. The village is also renowned as a party hotspot with plenty of boisterous nightlife and a thriving social scene hosted by the village’s slew of hotels, bars, shops and restaurants. Spend your days lazing on the spectacular beaches, floating in the idyllic turquoise waters or indulging in a massage. Then, as the sun sets, join the revellers as the town comes alive, cocktails flow freely and the beach bonfires begin to blaze. Daily itineraries tend to be gloriously simple: sunbathe, swim, party, repeat!
You will spend three nights here at leisure on full board basis.
The Warere Beach is nestled on a secluded strip of beach, east of Nungwi, one of the most popular beaches in Zanzibar. Nungwi is known for its crystal blue water, phenomenal sandy beaches, snorkeling, and great nightlife. Each of the 15 private bungalows reflects our commitment to sustaining the local environment and promoting the local artisans of Zanzibar. Rooms feature modern architectural technology that harnesses the power of the ocean winds for a “natural” A/C. In each bungalow, the ceiling leads to a cleverly designed wind tunnel, which allows guests to relax in a room cooled by nature itself. Windows can be left open as all rooms have full mosquito netting on the doors and windows, a feature rare in Zanzibar. However, for those days when the winds are low, each room is also equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans. The restaurant features a modern Swahili fusion menu and all the ingredients are locally sourced to create simple but elegant meals that offer guests a taste of Zanzibar.
